Legend has it that Liz Trinnear came out of the womb talking, and many would agree that she hasn’t stopped since. Her parents realized early on, however, that they had more than just a rambunctious chatterbox on their hands; they had a child who dreamt big.
Hailing from London, Ontario, Canada, Liz grew up idolizing The Beatles while listening to everything from Lauryn Hill to No Doubt, Destinys Child and TLC. Through the years her love for pop culture and music grew into a desire to channel that passion in the media industry. So after graduating with a BA from the Faculty of Information and Media Studies at the University of Western Ontario Liz began chasing her dream, spending the summer working as a Summer Cruiser Personality for Corus Radio stations 103.9 The Hawk, 103.1 Fresh FM and FM 96, London’s Rock station.
When she found out that MuchMusic – the epicenter of music and pop culture in her eyes – was looking for a new VJ in 2009, Liz shot her own episode of “Cribs” as her audition, gaining attention from thousands of fans who started showing their support on Facebook and Twitter. Soon enough, the girl who was voted “Most Likely to be a MuchMusic VJ” in high school became a self-fulfilling prophecy, beating out 4,000 other VJ hopefuls and landing her dream job.
Liz has quickly become MuchMusic’s resident sweetheart, with a grounded personality and positive outlook on life. Having struggled with a skin condition from a young age, Liz has always felt that what you exude from within counts far more than your physical appearance. Liz is proud to be herself and let her positive attitude and personality radiate both on-screen and off, and she tries to instill this same motivation in her friends, family and fans.
Since joining the MuchMusic team, Liz has had the opportunity to interview some of the biggest names in entertainment including Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Adam Levine, Quentin Tarantino, Chloe Grace Moretz, Demi Lovato, Ed Sheeran and Big Sean. She has also co-hosted the 2012 and 2013 Red Carpet at the MuchMusic Video Awards and covered other major events including the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, the Juno Awards, Toronto Fashion Week, Toronto International Film Fest and the MTV VMAs to name a few.
More than just an on-air personality, Liz is a die-hard fashionista who also has experience modeling and acting and was responsible for writing, producing, hosting and editing her own web series called Liz Online for muchmusic.com. With her unmistakable raspy voice, signature style and bubbly personality, she has been integral to making MUCH sponsor collaborations come alive with major clients such as CocaCola, Blackberry, Virgin Mobile, Fructis Fruit Sensation and Pepsi. You can currently find her hosting Today’s Top 10 and the MUCH Countdown, and inciting spontaneous dance parties across the city.
